Nursery Activities and Extras
Here at Loretto Nursery we offer a range of exceptional activities and opportunities and encourage children to participate in these free experiences to help them build their confidence and develop their skills.
We are excited to have recently registered with Eco-Schools – a global programme that engages children in key issues such as the environment, sustainability, global citizenship and the value of a low carbon future.
We will begin work towards our first Eco-Schools Bronze Award in 2017 through projects on planting and growing and learning about saving electricity and water.
Imagination Play at After School Club
Our After School Club children have been busy creating a magical fairy garden inspired by their imagining of what creatures might be living in the tree tops around our nursery and the river Esk.
We believe that exploring the world through imagination and play is so important and we have lots of fun supporting children in this at our nursery and After School Club.
Our E-Learning Journals allow parents to see their child’s progress and keep up to date with what they’re up to every day at nursery. We have an online Learning Journals system where our staff upload observations and pictures. All of the observations are linked to what each child has learned from their experiences. This allows parents to track their children’s development as often as they like.
Regular visits from a music teacher support our children in exploring and developing a love for music.
We are lucky to have our own Nursery Teacher who work closely with our children and their key workers to ensure that children make good progress within all aspects of their development in readiness for school.
We are lucky to have bi-lingual Spanish speaking staff who are able to support children in their first language, or in exploring new languages. This not only helps children settle well into nursery, but also provides opportunity to better understand and celebrate children’s cultures and heritage.
Our nursery enjoys great ties with our local community and we are often out and about visiting local sights and getting involved in events.
We celebrate Christmas by putting on a wonderful Christmas show for friends and family each year. There’s always much excitement in preparing for the show as we learn songs and organise our special dress ups.
