In our Baby Room our highly experienced staff team care for children under 2 years of age, our minimum staff ratio in our baby room is one member of staff to every three children and were possible this number will be lower. Our priority is to create a home away from home for your baby where they can grow and develop in a safe and stimulating environment.
We offer a wide variety of activities and opportunities for our babies. We try to get outdoors as often as possible and our babies enjoy walks around our local community as well as picnics in the park and visits to local landmarks.
Parents are required to supply milk to ensure continuity between home and nursery for all babies. We are a breast feeding friendly nursery and support mothers returning to work and still wishing to breast feed. Staff are trained in the storage and use of breast milk and we welcome you visiting to feed during the day where possible.
Around the time of your baby is 2 years old, and once they have found their feet, your child’s key worker will look to arrange a meeting with yourself to discuss your baby moving through to our Toddler Room.
In our Toddler Room children are cared for under the supervision of experienced staff. Our minimum staff ratio is one member of staff to every five children. Where possible this number will be lower.
Our Toddler Room provides a structured day with a great choice of learning opportunities including; arts and crafts, construction activities, table top games and much more. We will also introduce early numeracy and literacy skills and activities designed to develop your child’s communication skills.
Each day children spend time outside in our play areas or local park. We try to get outdoors as often as possible and our toddlers enjoy walks around our local community as well as picnics in the park and visits to local landmarks.
During your child’s time in our Toddler Room, we will aim to provide them with a wide range of experiences and opportunities to develop their confidence and independence, ready for their transition to our Pre-School Room.
Your child will progress to our 3-5s Room at around 3 years of age and stay in this room until they go off to school.
Our minimum staff to child ratio in our 3-5s Room is one member of staff to every eight children, and where possible this will be lower.
Our 3-5 year old children benefit from an extensive variety of resources and activities which are available both indoors as well as outdoors.
We pride ourselves on ensuring that when children leave nursery to move on to school, they do so confidently and independently, whilst taking with them the enjoyment of learning and a pride in their achievements.
We love to get outside at Loretto Nursery, where we have extensive outdoor play areas. All outdoor play areas are well resourced with quality outdoor toys and equipment, suited to each age group.
As well as time in our fabulous play areas, we also enjoy walks in the local area. Our youngest children are often seen out in our double buggies enjoying the fresh air, as well as the sights and sounds of the local community.
We believe there is no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing, so we ask that parents provide their children with appropriate clothing for all types of weather from wellington boots to sunglasses!
We use Walkodile Child Safety Systems and high visibility vests to keep children safe when out on trips away from the nursery.
