In our Baby Room our highly experienced staff team care for children under 2 years of age. Our priority is to create a home away from home for your baby where they can grow and develop in a safe and stimulating environment. Our minimum staff ratio in our baby room is one member of staff to every three children and where possible this number is even lower to ensure every child enjoys quality one-on-one time.
We offer a wide variety of activities and opportunities for our babies. We get outdoors as often as possible and our babies enjoy walks around our local community as well as picnics in the park and visits to local landmarks.
Parents are asked to supply milk to ensure continuity between home and nursery for all babies. We are a breastfeeding friendly nursery and support mothers returning to work and still wishing to breastfeed.
Around the time of your baby is 2 years old your child’s key worker will look to arrange a meeting with yourself to discuss your baby moving through to our Bunnies Room.
Our Bunnies Room provides a structured day with a great choice of learning opportunities including arts and crafts, construction activities, table top games and much more. We will also introduce early numeracy and literacy skills and activities designed to develop your child’s communication skills. Our minimum staff ratio is one member of staff to every five children.
Each day children spend time outside in our play areas or local park. We try to get outdoors as often as possible and our toddlers enjoy walks around our local community as well as picnics in the park and visits to local landmarks.
During your child’s time in our Bunnies Room, we aim to provide them with a wide range of experiences and opportunities to develop their confidence and independence, ready for their transition to our Pre-School Room.
Your child will progress to our Owl and Submarines Room at around 3 years of age and stay in this room until they head off to school. Our minimum staff to child ratio in our 3-5s Room is one member of staff to every eight children.
Our 3-5 year old children benefit from an extensive variety of resources and activities and regular visits from our Nursery Teacher. We pride ourselves on ensuring that when children leave nursery to move on to school, they do so confidently and independently, taking with them the enjoyment of learning and a pride in their achievements.
We love to get outside at Loretto Nursery! We have extensive outdoor play areas well resourced with quality outdoor toys and equipment suited to each age group.
As well as time in our fabulous play areas, we also enjoy walks in the local area. Our youngest children are often seen out in our double buggies enjoying the fresh air and Musselburgh seaside, as well as the sights and sounds of the local community. We use Walkodile Child Safety Systems and high visibility vests to keep children safe when out on trips away from the nursery.
We believe there is no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing, so we ask that parents provide their children with appropriate clothing for all types of weather from wellington boots to sunglasses!
